Nicola Smith

Nicola Smith is a viola player, educator and arts administrator. She studied Viola with Oliver Butterworth, and composition with Bob Hanson at Dartington College of Arts. She has a broad and eclectic taste in music, and has worked as a viola player with a range of musicians including the Zimbabwean master musician Chartwell Dutiro, and jazz musicians including Cennet Jonnson, Brian Abrahams and Scott Stroman, as well as ‘classical’ musicians.

Nicola Smith is a viola player, educator and arts administrator. She studied Viola with Oliver As an educator, Nicola has over 30 years’ experience of string teaching and coaching, classroom practice and teacher training. She has an M.A. in Education, and research interests include collaborative work across cultures, and how the word talent can effect and affect attitudes to teaching and learning.

Nicola Smith is a viola player, educator and arts administrator. She studied Viola with Oliver As an administrator, she manages the historically informed performance ensemble Devon Baroque, as well as promoting concerts in Devon.
