This is the second residential of the learning year.
Composers Hugh Nankivell and Ben Ballard will lead shared inventions, creating and performing new works, songs, pieces, structures. They are working for a year with a nursery class and a reception class at two schools in Torquay where they are assisting three and four year old children in the invention of music (themes, melodies, rhythms, ideas...) and by observing their new invention of instrumental techniques. These initial inventions and approaches are then being developed into new musical pieces by a number of different groups over the year, including you.
We will begin the residency by looking at video footage and listening to recorded examples of the original ideas and then work on arranging and transforming them into a new collection of pieces. These will be performed and recorded during the residency and later a number of them will be performed in a small tour of schools in Torbay.
This event is closed to general public and only students on the 2011/12 Core Programme are able to attend.
