Individual Mentoring, Tuition & Development Programme

Each composition student will have a Mentor who will also act as their individual tutor. The Mentor/tutor will have been individually selected for the student, taking into account their musical interests and areas of expertise.

The Mentor/tutor will work with the student to explore and develop their compositional and musical needs and the results of these discussions will form the basis of their Individual Learning Plan (ILP). From the ILP the Mentor/tutor will create an individual tuition plan, which will start in the September of the new learning year.

Tuition sessions will take place with the appointed Mentor/tutor at a mutually convenient time.  Each session will last approximately two hours and will occur every two-three weeks. During the learning year, the Mentor/tutor will discuss the student's progress, any new development areas, music as a whole and explore independent tasks as well as receiving teaching and guidance in the chosen area of composition.

The cellist had such a beautiful tone, I could listen to her all day.
