Young Artists Performance Series - June 2011

The Young Artist Performance Series 2011 continued on 12^th June 2011 with an inspiring line up of local musicians at Wiltshire Music Centre.

Fresh from his win of the brass category at the Mid-Somerset Festival, Oly Sourbut played a beautiful set of classical pieces transcribed for tenor horn. Theo May played his own unique compositions on violin, with pre-recorded backing. In his debut YAPS performance for SWMS, Xander Baker, of the SWMS FeederPlus scheme, played a terrific combination of classical and rock-inspired pieces for cello, truly demonstrating that the cello really can rock! He was joined by his friend and fellow SWMS student Dan Springate to perform the Vivaldi Double Cello Concerto in G major, accompanied by Jackie Bevan. All the performances were thoroughly enjoyed by all, and demonstrated the flair and passion of the students.
