June 2011 Session 5
In June the Feeder students found themselves on their way to the beautiful city of Wells in Somerset for a day of Performance Practise and Presentation with tutors Paul Denegri and Paul Ryan. With auditions only a week away, this was a good opportunity to learn how to control nerves and use them to your advantage, the best ways to practise before the day and what to do if it all goes wrong on the day! Paul and Paul provided a brilliant tag team talking through the events leading up to the day and then the events right up to the point of walking onto the stage or into the audition room. The students were taught relaxation techniques, the reasons our bodies react in the ways they do and how to combat it as well as how to pull a piece apart to really get it under the fingers and how to work effectively with an accompanist/band.
This was a great day and a fantastic preparation for the SWMS auditions.
