James Aldridge - Intern

James has moved down to Devon from his hometown of Bristol to pursue a career in music. After picking up the guitar aged 13, he became obsessed by the instrument and very quickly developed into a dedicated performer and song-writer.

Since then, James has fronted punk and rock bands, played guitar with jazz and funk bands, gigged extensively as a solo artist and been involved in musicals, orchestras and vocal groups across Gloucestershire.

In 2008 he joined South West Music School, where he became first and foremost a singer/songwriter, contributing to the Kaleidoscope album and many SWMS events including Bath Party In The City, Excellent! and Aylesbury festival.

As part of James’ ILP he recorded his solo EP “Horoscope” in 2009 and is due to release his debut album “Tread Softly” in 2011 which will be supported by a tour and video.

After graduating in 2011, alongside taking on an internship at SWMS, James is now part of the Shared Inventions project in Torbay where he will be working with children aged 4 and 5, training up a year 6 band and being a tutor at the 2012 February residential.

James is also gigging around the South West, training to be a music leader and working as a session guitarist and guitar and bass teacher.
