Induction Day 2011
It was a very uplifting and exhilarating start to the 2011/12 learning year. Cuban band Asere worked with the new and continuing Core Students looking at Cuban based rhythm, style and song. With their passion and enthusiasm they managed to get classical and rock musicians alike jamming in the Cuban style.
The students were split into instrumental groups of upper strings, guitars and basses, percussion, wind and brass and voices. Within each group they learnt their particular 'role' within Cuban Music as well as how to improvise in the style. At the end of the day they joined back together to put all the different parts in place to create a Cuban party for the parents!
As part of the day the new Core Programme students also met their new mentors to begin discussing how they want their programme to be run.
