Chris Pike
Although not a musician himself, Chris’s son Ross, who has gone on to study music in the USA, was a pupil at South West Music School for two years and benefitted greatly from the opportunities and experience the organisation provided.
Chris is Financial Controller of the National Maritime Museum Cornwall (NMMC) in Falmouth, one of the West Country’s leading visitor attractions. Although a registered charity, NMMC does not receive any regular government funding or grants and is mainly dependent on the number of visitors it can attract each year. Chris is very familiar with the financial challenges that charities face and is responsible for all regulatory returns to the Charity Commission, Companies House etc, and Gift Aid returns to HMRC.
Born and educated in Falmouth, Chris has always worked in Cornwall. Prior to his employment at NMMC, his financial experience includes manufacturing, wholesaling and the tourist industry. Chris also served as a governor at Falmouth School for eight years and was Chairman of their finance committee.
Aware of the geographical and financial limitations facing young musicians in West Country, Chris is keen to support SWMS and, in particular, the policy of bringing together pupils from all genres of music in a seamless way.
