Bath Party in the City - May 2011
On Friday 27th May, seven South West Music School students came together to perform in the Guildhall, Bath as part of Bath Party in the City 2011, for the third year running.
A unique combination of classical favourites and the students’ own compositions was well-received by an enthusiastic audience. There truly was something for everyone, whether your preference was for sonatas, concerti, free jazz, thought-provoking folk ballads or rock guitar. The students confidently delivered every piece with passion and commitment, creating an intimate setting in the grand surroundings of the Guildhall.
The programme included the Bath Young Musician of the Year 2010, Ruth Knight (flute), alongside violinists Oscar Tabor, Geng To Law and Theo May, singer/songwriters James Aldridge, Declan Millar and tenor horn player, Oliver Sourbut, who is also a contender for Bath Young Musician of the Year 2011. The accompanist was Jackie Bevan, who demonstrated her ability to change between styles and keep up with the breadth of styles aptly showcased.
