South West Music School is looking for young musicians with a sense of considerable authority and clarity; stylish and who are musically informed. If you are between the ages of 8 – 16 and have the high levels of musicianship, talent and/or potential and are a committed individual then South West Music School would like to hear from you.

If you apply and are selected for audition you should display excellent communication with the audition panel and where accompanied, excellent ensemble/group skills. The audition panel will be looking for a mature and vibrant performance given with an intuitive sense of the demands of the chosen music, which is appropriate to your age and experience.

Successful candidates can then stay on our programme until they are 18 (subject to reaching agreed targets and annual re-assessment).

How to apply

We run a two-stage application process, which will be informal and friendly. We will be looking for a combination of potential and passion for music as well as exceptional talent.

Application - Stage 1

If you are 16 and under on 1 September 2008, candidates are asked to complete the Application Form and return it along with a reference (this can be from anyone who knows your musically) and recording of your playing/singing. The recording can be simple and done at home; we are not judging recording quality. Successful candidates will be invited to attend Stage 2

Application – Stage 2

This is an audition day. Each candidate will participate in a group activity, a discussion about their music and music in general, work with an accompanist (if appropriate) and give a performance to a panel.

We are now recruiting for 2008/09 and the closing date for applications is Friday 9 May.
