Laura Ilsley
Laura's love for music began in her teenage years by singing with the competition-winning Farnham Youth Choir. As a result of this she decided that music was her preferred career option and moved away to follow the Pre-Professional Music Course at Cricklade College, Andover. Following a degree in Music and Drama, in 2004 she studied for a Masters degree in music Performance and Related Studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Since then her work has been focussed on choral leadership and singing training for young people in the Plymouth area and works as a secondary school music teacher. In 2008 Laura had the opportunity to take a small choir from Parkside Community College to perform at the Royal Albert Hall as a part of a charity-funded gala concert. Laura teaches singing in six schools across Plymouth and runs two secondary-age youth choirs for Plymouth Music Zone. She works as a vocal leader for Sing Up and has recently become an examiner for Rockschool’s Performance Arts Awards.
