Kirsten Burden
Kirsten’s musical interest started at an early age when she was taken by her parents to the local brass band to try an instrument. From here she progressed quickly and played with Hayle Band for 15 years. During this time, she passed all of her grade exams with Associated Board by the time she was 14. She studied Music at school and then went onto Music A Level, Performance and Theoretical, at College.
Following College, Kirsten divided her time between performing and teaching up and down the county. She then got a position in the Brass Team for Cornwall Learning Music, of which she has been a part of since 2004. Kirsten currently teaches approximately just over 200 pupils, some of them who are learning a brass instrument in classes of around 30 pupils through the governments Wider Opportunities Scheme. She finds her job very rewarding and enjoys working with pupils, whether they are complete beginners or at a higher level. She is very keen to pass on her knowledge of playing to others and hopes that they enjoy playing as much as she does. Kirsten is very excited to be working with the talented pupils for South West Music School.
