Jayne Obradovich

Jayne is currently Head of Percussion at Wells Cathedral School, a post she has held for the last 17 years.

Since graduating she has developed a busy schedule as a freelance performer, Principal examiner for The Guildhall School of Music, Lecturer in teaching at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and is in great demand as an adjudicator and Percussion consultant to many of the Counties in the UK.

Very few teachers nationwide can equal Jayne’s breadth of teaching experience, which is why she was appointed to her most recent post at the RWCMD. Very many of her pupils have gone on to win awards and scholarships to major conservatoires and competitions. Many of her former students have gone on to successful careers - as teachers and performers in major British orchestras.

As an orchestral coach Jayne has worked for the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain, National Youth Orchestra of Wales, National Youth Wind Ensemble, National Children’s Orchestra, IAPS Orchestra and over 10 county youth orchestras.

Jayne undertakes seminars and master classes on percussion teaching and is involved in the National Association of Percussion teachers.

In 2000 Jayne was invited to compile the Trinity/ Guildhall Percussion syllabus and the current syllabus is the direct result of many years work, compiling and researching the most up to date repertoire. Many of Jayne’s own compositions feature in the syllabus.

During the last 2 years at Wells Jayne has expanded her role and is currently one of the Senior Housemistress’

Jayne’s latest project is in collaboration with a music school in Sierra Leone for blind students. She is raising money to re build the school and to provide a recording studio linked to the UK.

Jayne lives in Cardiff with her husband Peter and their 11-year-old daughter Alice who plays percussion, tuba and piano.
