Anne Kimber
Anne started her musical career at the age of 4 when she fell out of an apple tree. In hospital several days, her mother bought her a plastic penny whistle on which she learned to play the current pop songs. By the end of her stay she was playing requests for the next-door men's ward. She started playing the flute at the age of 10, joining the BYSO at the age of 14 and remaining with them for 5 years. Being a student of Dartington College of Arts gave her the opportunity to study of the art of conducting, as well as to start a career as a soloist and orchestral performer. Anne has also been involved in music recording of contemporary repertoire most notable CDs : The Monkeys Paw and Untitled, music of Frank Denyer. Anne now teachers widely in the South west and continues to work as an orchestral player, having performed with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, the Bournemouth Sinfonetta and many local orchestras and groups. She has conducted the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra for a number of years, working with soloists such as Julian Lloyd Webber, Ralph Kiershbaum and Joanna MacGregor. Anne is also an experience orchestral manager and has managed the Dartington Festival Orchestra for many years.
